Introduction: The term "image of God" occurs three times in the Bible. In Genesis 1:26-27 and 9:6, we find out that man is created in the image of God. In 2 Cor. 4:4 we see the phrase used in reference to Jesus who is the "image of God." There is no exact understanding of what the phrase means, but we can generalize. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth,” (Genesis 1:26-28 King James Version). Introduction Image is defined as, “ a representation of the external form of a person or thing,” (Oxford Dictionaries). When the Bible says that mankind was created in the image of God it meant that we are made in the reflection of God (Etzel & Gutierrez, p. 61). God is perfect and as mankind it is important for us to be mindful of how we represent Him, because He lives within us. It is
